Influential People Of China
Deng Xiaoping
Deng Xiaoping oversaw China's reform and opening to the world. He was more
interested in the welfare of his people than the requirements of his party. He
helped undo some of the harm caused by Mao Zedong.
He is remembered for ordering troops to clear Tiananmen Square in
1989.The most significant change he instigated was the introduction of the so called
Four Modernisations of agriculture, industry,
national defence and science and technology.
Mao Zedong
Mao Zedong was a Chinese Communist leader, the first chairman of
the Chinese Communist Party and the main founder of the Peoples’ Republic of
China, both that continue strong today. He is considered to be the father of
Communist China and responsible for the death of millions. After German Karl
Marx and Russian Revolutionist Vladimir Lenin, he is supposedly one of the
greatest theorists.
Mao and his Communist Party were the major people [along with the
Kuomintang who they sided with] who overthrew the weakening, cruel and
vulnerable Qing dynasty in 1923. Soon after driving the nationalists to Taiwan,
Mao declared China the first Peoples’ Republic of China on 1st
October 1949. Mao and his
communist party attempted two great schemes, the Great Leap Forward and the
Cultural Revolution. However, these ended up in great bloodshed, and is why Mao
is Zedong is now remember by many as a mass murderer.
